GENERAL Name: Valentin Muratov Age: 227 Water Use: Needs clean water to survive First Appearance: 12/30/2004 INFORMATION Muratov was born in his kind's world just before his family moved beyond the curtain into Russia in the late 19th century, and remained there until just a couple years before the mess. He worked in an underground criminal network run by an other named Aripald, a close friend of the family. When Muratov's father died, Muratov took his place as a key figure in the network, though he continued to go on destructive missions, both in and out of Russia. It was on one of these where he met Candice, and the two eventually married. Not long after, Muratov was sent on an assignment to another world beyond the curtain, and when he returned he quickly discovered he had a condition that forced him back to his kind's world for several months. This was unacceptable and the only cure that could be found was a drug that would allow him to remain. But it was rare and had ill side effects. They ran out of it just before the mess, and Muratov decided that his family would not be safe in Russia anymore without him, so before he was forced away again, he brought them to America. When he returned, he discovered that his family had no idea what had happened, but the mess had occured, humans were no longer dominant, and Candice had died long before his return. At this, Muratov decided that the drug was no longer reliable or acceptable, and sough out a permanent solution in the resources of an other called Domingo. In return for the Muratov family permanent association with his group, Domingo set to cure Muratov and would cure any of his family members were they to be afflicted by the condition, cost-free. Muratov is a big other, as his kind is. He's naturally strong and works hard to preserve and increase this. His kind are also incredibly resistant to extreme temperatures on both sides of the spectrum. His guns were with him when he was thrown through the curtain before the mess, and thus they work well. He's sought out those who might be able to make new guns, as the old ones appear unrepairable in whatever is wrong with them. Because of this, he keeps his own close, particularly a mini-gun he calls Candi, in memory of his late wife. |
